A Respectable 
Woman will be published on Amazon Kindle this weekend. Set mainly in London in the 1850s it is the story of an unlikely relationship between a young school teacher and a British officer she met on a mission station in Africa.
The Oliver Wentworth foundation school which is featured in the novel is closely based on Raines’ Foundation School in East London which is the school I attended as a child. It was a grammar school back then, based in a square just off Commercial Road, just like the Wentworth school in the novel and I used some of the original source material about the school in local history libraries to research the story.
