  1. I am so excited about Friday and the latest book. Having caught up with Johnny on furlough I am waiting to see how it all pans out. The great thing about the Peninsular series is that although the hardships and battles are given due respect without any glorifying, the wonderful humour and moments of love and humanity relieve what would otherwise be unmitigated despair. A bit like watching Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd. By the end you want to cut your own throat to escape the tragedy.
Thank you for the short stories and the update on James Harker and of course for continuing to write compelling novels that can be read and reread over and over.
    Best wishes
    Janet

  2. So I left my review of book 6 via Facebook and I had a reply from my goddaughter in Australia.
Clearly neither of us knew we were both fans of the books and the history but we do now.
I always knew she had great taste in literature for a chemist, I’m one as well!
